This page is the door for messages about the guide. It is not a booking desk, a recovery hotline, or a place to ask whether a particular crossing is open this afternoon. Those questions have owners: parks services, road agencies, and the Bureau of Meteorology. If you need a live answer, open those doors first. If you need the planning notes to be clearer, stay here.
The form below sends a message to the editor. Write in ordinary language. If a child could understand the problem, the editor can too.
When a note is useful
Useful notes look like this:
- “The parks link on the Top End page goes to a general homepage; here is the alerts URL that worked today.”
- “The family page talks about school rules but I still do not know which agency to ask in my state — can you name the type of office?”
- “The budget page and the camping page seem to disagree about unpaid nights.”
Those notes make the guide better for the next household. They are more useful than a general rating of whether travel is “worth it.”
When a note is not something this site can answer
Please do not use the form to ask for:
- a live road or park status,
- a recommended mechanic in a named town,
- a quote, endorsement, or ranking of a business,
- medical, legal, or immigration advice,
- a custom itinerary that lists nightly stops for your dates,
- a price for fuel, ferries, or camps.
If you send those questions, the honest reply is a pointer back to the official page. That can feel abrupt. It is still the correct reply. A planning guide that pretends to know today’s floodway is a danger.
If you are in an emergency, use local emergency services, not a website form.
How to describe a planning problem
If you are stuck on a decision rather than a broken link, say which constraint is real. “We have school terms in these months and we want a tropical park road” is a problem the hubs already address: you may be planning a split trip. “We do not know whether our licence covers this tow” is a National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and state transport problem. “We are frightened of the spreadsheet” is a budget problem.
You do not need to include the names of people in your household. You do not need to include a registration number. The less personal data you send, the less there is to hold. See privacy.
What happens after you send
The form uses a hosted mail service to deliver the message. You should see a confirmation on this page if the send succeeds. If it does not, wait and try later; do not send the same note a dozen times.
A reply, when it comes, will be about the guide. It will not be personal advice you can rely on as a professional service. The disclaimer says the same thing in longer form.
Other reading while you wait
If you wrote because you cannot tell how long to take, read the Big Lap. If you wrote because you cannot tell which way to drive, read routes. If you wrote because children are melting, read family travel. If you wrote because a forum frightened you with a weekly figure, read budget and costs and then ignore the forum figure.
The continent is still large. The official pages are still the live ones. This form exists so the notes that point at those pages stay usable.
If you are a teacher, a parks staff member, or a road-agency reader who has spotted a mis-named door, you are especially welcome to write. Naming the correct public door is a public service.
The form follows. Required fields are marked by the browser. Please do not include payment details or copies of licences. We do not need them, and we do not want them.
If you would rather not use a form at all, you can still use the hubs. Most planning problems are already answered there, in the order a household actually meets them: time, direction, sleep, children, money.
