Paper planning notes on a table

Your details

Privacy notice

This notice explains what this planning guide collects when you visit or write, and what it does not collect. It is written in ordinary language for households using the site.

At a glance

  1. Contact form

If you write, your name, email, topic, and message are sent to the editor through a hosted mail service.

  2. Browsing

Ordinary server and hosting logs may record technical data needed to deliver the pages.

  3. Official links

When you leave this site for BOM, a road agency, or a parks service, their notices apply.

This privacy notice is for readers of bigadventure.com.au. The site is a planning guide. It does not require an account to read the hubs. It does not run a members’ club. The main moment it receives details you type is when you use the contact form.

The notice is general information, not a legal advice letter. If you need advice about your own situation, speak to a qualified person in your jurisdiction.

Reading the pages

You can open the hubs, route chapters, and utility pages without sending a name. The pages are delivered by a hosting provider. Hosting and content-delivery systems commonly record technical data such as IP address, browser type, date and time, and the address of the page requested. That data is used to operate the site, diagnose faults, and understand which pages are requested. It is not used here as a public profile of you.

This site does not ask you to register. It does not offer a comment layer that would store a public display name. If a future feature needs more data, this notice will be updated before that feature asks for it.

The contact form

The contact form asks for a name, an email address, a topic, and a message. Those fields exist so the editor can understand the note and, if needed, reply. Please do not send payment card numbers, copies of licences, medical records, or the names of children if they are not required to explain a problem with the guide. We do not need them.

When you submit the form, the contents are transmitted to a hosted form-to-email service so they can be delivered to the editor. That service processes the submission in order to send the mail. Their own notice applies to their processing, in addition to this one.

Messages are used to:

  • fix broken official links,
  • clarify planning language,
  • understand which decisions readers find hard,
  • reply when a reply is appropriate.

Messages are not used to build a marketing list on this site. They are not sold. They are not published.

Cookies and similar technology

Pages may use cookies or similar storage that the hosting or font systems require to function. This site does not run a third-party advertising network. If you block cookies in your browser, the planning text should still be readable; some technical features may be limited.

The guide points to the Bureau of Meteorology, state road agencies, parks services, fuel checkers, and other public or independent sites. When you follow those links, you leave this site. Their privacy notices, cookies, and logging rules apply. This page cannot rewrite them.

If you use a fuel checker or a park booking system, you are dealing with that agency or operator, not with this planning guide.

Children

The family-travel notes are written for adults who are planning a trip that includes children. The contact form is not intended for a child to use alone. If you write about a family planning problem, omit extra names and school details that the editor does not need.

Retention

Contact messages are kept long enough to deal with the request and to understand repeated problems with a page. They are then deleted or stored only as an anonymised note that a certain page was unclear. Hosting logs follow the host’s ordinary retention.

If you want to know whether a particular message is still held, write again from the same address and name the approximate date. We will not ask you to resend the whole original story if a short description is enough.

Access and correction

If you have sent a message and want to correct an email address or ask what we hold about that message, use the contact form and say so plainly. We will deal with that request as reasonably as the way the mail was stored allows.

Security

No website can promise perfect security. The form uses a hosted service and encrypted transport in ordinary modern browsers. Do not send secrets that would harm you if they were seen. We do not want secrets.

Changes to this notice

If the way the site collects details changes — for example if a newsletter is ever added — this page will change first. The date of the site’s broader copyright band does not replace the need to read this notice when you write.

The planning content and your trip

Reading a method is not a transaction that requires your itinerary. You can use the hubs without telling anyone your dates. That is the preferred way to travel: keep your movements on official pages and in your own notebook, not in a stranger’s inbox.

If you remember only one line, remember this: type the least that still lets the editor fix the guide. The country does not need your surname to tell you to read a road report.

Questions

What personal information do you collect?

If you only read pages, this site does not ask you to create an account. If you send the contact form, you provide a name, email, topic, and message.

Do you sell contact details?

No. Messages are used to run and improve the guide, not as a mailing list product.

How do I ask a question about this notice?

Use the contact form and mention the privacy page in the message.
